Prospective Students

Welcome to SuZuki strings of Madison!  We are glad that you are interested in joining our program.

To get started, please read the About SSM information on our website!

What are the steps towards enrollment?

Before beginning lessons we require brief observation time of both private and group lessons to all those new to the Suzuki Method. This includes observing two private lessons, and two group lessons. We have found that this is the best way for families to discover what Suzuki Strings is all about, and decide if it is appropriate for them.

  • First, contact us through e-mail on our contact page (preferred), or call Diana Popowycz at 608-695-4020.  We want to know of your interest!  The reply to your inquiry will include the names and contact information of teachers with openings for you to observe.

  • Next, to get started with your observations, print the observation form here.  Please take it with you to each class you attend for the teacher to sign.

Private lesson observation

To set up your private lesson observations, please contact the faculty member you wish to observe to set up a time that works for both of you.

Group classes observations

SSM’s Group Classes occur every Tuesday at Covenant Presbyterian Church located at 326 S. Segoe Road, Madison, WI 53705 (map link).

You can just show up to observe Tuesday classes which run from 4:00 to 6:15 PM and are 45 minutes each. For beginning students, a good place to start is the Dalcroze music and movement class at 4:00 pm followed by the Pre-Twinkle class at 4:45 pm.  To plan your Group Class observations, click here for a complete group class schedule

Please be aware that regular group classes are replaced by an informal group concert on the last Tuesday of the month from 4:30-6:00 PM.  Click here for our complete calendar.

What do I do after my observations are completed?

When you have completed two private lesson observations and two group class observations, submit the observation form to the teacher at your last observation. We will then coordinate placing you with an instructor to start lessons.
